ANTIEPILETIC DRUGS (MHD-OXCBZ) by HPLC
Antiepileptic drugs are a group of different pharmaceuticals used in the treatment of epileptic seizures. Anticonvulsants are also increasingly being used in the treatment of bipolar disorder, since many seem to act as mood stabilizers, and for the treatment of neuropathic pain is an anticonvulsant drug used in the treatment of epilepsy and bipola disorder.
Oxcarbazepine is in a group of drugs called anticonvulsants, or antiepileptic drugs. It is used alone or in combination with other medications to control certain types of seizures. It works by decreasing abnormal electrical activity in the brain that cause seizures. Oxcarbazepine is used to treat partial seizures in adults and children who are at least 2 years old. Oxcarbazepine is rapidly reduced to 10,11-dihydro-10-hydroxy-carbazepine (monohydroxy derivative, MHD), the clinically relevant metabolite of oxcarbazepine.
MHD-OXCBZ by HPLC is a kit for the quantitative determination of the antiepileptic drugs MHD in serum.
