Rely-AMP CHLAMYDIA TRACHOMATIS/NEISSERIA GONORRHOEAE
(multiplex pcr kit)
Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis are two of the most common bacterial sexually transmitted infections.
The most important sequelae to genital C. trachomatis infection include pelvic inflammatory disease, salpingitis, occlusion of the fallopian tubules, and other fertility-abolishing or - diminishing problems in women; epididymitis can follow genital infection in men. Asymptomatic persistent chlamydial infection in the urogenital tract of men among infertile couples has been reported. C. trachomatis may be the causative agent in up to 40% of ectopic pregnancies. A high percentage (50–70%) of infected persons remains asymptomatic. C. trachomatis is also an important neonatal pathogen, where it can lead to infections of the eye (trachoma) and pulmonary complications.
Neisseria gonorrhoeae primarily causes urethritis in males. Health complications resulting from gonorrhea disease occur mainly in women, and are largely assigned to the predominately asymptomatic nature of the lower genital tract infection. Infection by gonococcus is associated with several clinical manifestations, such as cervicitis and urethritis, as well as pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, chronic pelvic pain, and infertility.
N. gonorrhoeae neonatal infection can cause severe conjunctivitis, which can result in blindness if untreated and, rarely, sepsis with associated meningitis, endocarditis, or arthritis.
DETAILS
Rely-AMP CHLAMYDIA TRACHOMATIS/NEISSERIA GONORRHOEAE is an in vitro polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay for the direct, qualitative detection of Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis from clinical specimens. Rely-AMP CHLAMYDIA TRACHOMATIS/NEISSERIA GONORRHOEAE provides all necessary reagents for reliable Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis extraction andDNA detection.
The kit is designed for the detection of the Neisseria gonorrhoeae genomic DNA and Chlamydia trachomatis plasmidic DNA based on the amplification of the specific sequence of the Neisseria gonorrhoeae OPA gene and the specific sequence of the Chlamydia trachomatis cryptic plasmid and concurrently on the amplification of the sequence of the gene for RNasi by means of the Real time PCR.
