About Us & Mission
Since its very inception, NUREX was founded with the clear purpose of resolving critical diagnostic challenges to prevent severe clinical conditions. For over thirty years, we have pursued an industrial vision rooted in scientific independence and ethical responsibility, entirely reinvesting all revenues from the commercialization of our diagnostic systems back into Research and Development.
This unwavering commitment acts as the foundation of our evolution. It enables us to place advanced IVD diagnostics at the service of health and healthcare facilities, partnering with leading institutions to overcome current technological, operational, and economic barriers.
As a purpose-driven company guided by a profound clinical and social mission, operating as a social benefit company, we act with a core commitment to generating a positive impact on public health and the wider community. We foster a collaborative approach with leading academic, pharmaceutical, and industrial partners, sharing diverse and specialized expertise necessary to resolve complex, unanswered diagnostic challenges from a technological, economic, and operational standpoint.
In full alignment with the strategic pillars of IPCEI Health 1 (Med4Cure) which we have the honor and responsibility of being a part of—we target our investments toward unmet medical needs and overcoming current market limitations. We provide diagnostic laboratories and healthcare facilities with stable IVD solutions built on robust scientific and clinical validation, in full compliance with IVDR standards. We merge technology with sustainable production models capable of optimizing expenditures and safeguarding the resources of the entire healthcare ecosystem.
Clinical, Economic, and Social Impact
1. Shared Sustainability, Green Efficiency, and Resource Preservation
- Reduction of hospitalization costs: Timely pathogen identification or early oncological and genetic diagnosis enables the immediate start of targeted therapies. This leads to a drastic reduction in medical complications and unnecessary hospital days, generating structural savings for an accessible and sustainable healthcare system.
- Innovative processes and green transition: Integrating highly automated systems and miniaturized technologies based on microfluidic cartridges slashes laboratory consumption costs, eliminates manual error rates, and significantly reduces test repetitions. This directly fulfills IPCEI Med4Cure requirements by driving the green transition of healthcare systems through efficient management that minimizes hazardous waste production.
2. End-to-End Care, Frontier Performance, and Addressing Unmet NeedsUnmet Needs)
- Ultra-sensitive technologies and reliability: We design solutions for critical applications requiring sensitivity and accuracy parameters close to theoretical limits. Our patented technologies seamlessly merge ultra-sensitive molecular and microbiological detection with high clinical reliability and repeatability, interpreting background noise and false positives through innovative algorithms to deliver precise, rapid answers.
- Process integration and error prevention: We take comprehensive care of the entire diagnostic process through native, end-to-end technological integration. This closed and automated ecosystem is designed to eliminate workflow bottlenecks and prevent pre-analytical and analytical errors, ensuring smoother, faster, and more efficient operations for the healthcare facility.
- Operator protection and safety: Merging automation with corporate ethics is central to our model. The specialized engineering of our microfluidic cartridges minimizes the direct handling of potentially infectious biological samples, safeguarding the health and safety of laboratory personnel.
- Native traceability and global quantitative controls: We ensure total, transparent, and bidirectional traceability of every single piece of clinical data, from sample entry to the final report. This is combined with efficient, global quantitative control systems capable of monitoring the analytical accuracy of the entire instrument network in real-time, providing medical management with unprecedented data objectivity and quality.
- Total operational flexibility for any workload: Our technologies offer unparalleled versatility, adapting dynamically to the real logistical needs of laboratories. Our devices handle the following with equal precision and economic efficiency:
- Low or sporadic flows: Ideal for the immediate and timely management of urgent cases in real-time.
- High and fluctuating flows: Perfect for absorbing peak workloads that are not necessarily constant, optimizing instrument utilization without wasting empty slots or inactive reagents.
- Regulatory integrity and advanced digitalization: All our devices enter the market in full IVDR compliance, ensuring total data traceability and maximum patient safety.
3. Top-Tier Research and Healthcare Autonomy
- Co-research, academic ecosystem, and open dissemination: We achieve our technological milestones by synergistically uniting diverse disciplines. A prime example is the AMR SHIELD project, carried out in close collaboration with the University of Florence (UNIFI), the University of Parma (UNIPR), and the University of Perugia (UNIPG), co-funded by MIMIT (Innovation Programs). Plans are already underway to formalize a public-private consortium, ensuring streamlined project management, continuous technological advancement, and the tangible deployment of results.
Value chain resilience and reliable supply: Operating as a purpose-driven company rooted within IPCEI programs means safeguarding the strategic autonomy and resilience of the European healthcare supply chain.
